Do not bloody your knuckles
knocking on the door
if you know they won’t let you in.
Slip under, over, around.
Dig the ground out
from beneath the castle walls.
Rail against the gates
if you must,
if it gets something off your chest,
then float like dust,
a beguiling mist.
Surround the highest tower
and then seep deep

into the lungs of power;
the ones who yell the loudest
and grow mighty when others surrender.
The soft wind and gentle water
will erode the rock eventually
always and forever,
each and every single day.
