Midnight came and passed in brief.
A flash of what was
with what will be
all made up in fantasy
and fictions of the mind.
Let us leave this claptrap party
where strangers want a kiss
at 12 o’clock sharp.
There is no tawdriness in the woods.
I hope to go there and light a fire.
There is a soft wind tonight
so it will be safe,
and light,
and warming.
Bring silver steins
and a billycan for the boil.
Tomorrow comes forever.
Time never ends.
